When i sew a garments neckline I start with sewing the shoulder seam, leaving one open. Bind the neckline and then sew shoulder .

A dot with the glue-pen (link) and press the bindings end together Serge together (overlock) over the binding. The water-soluble glue-pen is often a life-saving tool

(the extra binding on the back is a trick to help the foot to be in level with the binding on the blanket.
Cut one on the binding, fold the other over and sew it down

Trim the beginning and go over, and continnue for a bit on only binding.
